About the role

  • Water Resources Engineer involved in river engineering and natural systems restoration projects. Collaborating across teams while managing project budgets and technical reports in Ontario, Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering analysis and design for river engineering and natural systems restoration projects, for both private and public clients
  • Lead engineering analysis and design for urban drainage and surface water management projects, for both private and public clients
  • Prepare conceptual, preliminary, and detailed designs of riverine, valley-land, wetland, and shoreline restoration works
  • Conduct specialized hydrologic and hydraulic modeling
  • Support river engineering and environmental assessment tasks
  • Provide resident engineering and contract administration support for construction projects
  • Successfully manage project budgets, invoicing, scheduling, change management, and client management
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Provide technical support and mentoring to junior team members
  • Prepare technical reports, technical memoranda, and work plans

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in water resources and river engineering
  • Professional Engineer designation with PEO is required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Water Resources/Environmental Engineering, or related field
  • Experience in writing technical reports and proposals, and giving presentations to multi-stakeholder groups
  • Knowledge of current regulations, legislation and permitting
  • Experience with design and drafting software such as ArcGIS and AutoCAD would be an asset
  • Experience with various water resources modeling software (i.e., HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWAT, HSP-F, EFDC) would be considered an asset
  • Self-motivated individual, possessing strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • A valid Class G driver’s license with no restrictions and a clean driving record.
