About the role

  • Senior Product Owner driving tactical delivery across NMI’s Billing and Data platforms. Owning Agile execution, UAT, releases, and platform expertise for a payments technology company.

Responsibilities

  • Lead delivery for the Billing and Data teams by managing team backlogs, facilitating Agile ceremonies, and ensuring work is clearly defined, prioritized, and ready for engineering execution.
  • Author detailed feature epics and user stories with precise acceptance criteria.
  • Conduct and manage UAT, including writing and executing SQL queries against BigQuery to verify data accuracy and pipeline correctness.
  • Coordinate release planning, write release notes, and manage internal rollout communications.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Product Managers, Engineering Managers, and the Program Manager on dependencies, strategy, capacity, sequencing, and coordination.
  • Define and validate MVPs aligned with NMI's strategic goals.
  • Provide product training and enablement for customer-facing teams, support, and internal stakeholders.
  • Communicate upcoming work, progress, and timelines to stakeholders and executives.
  • Develop deep knowledge of NMI's five billing platforms and serve as the primary billing-related point of contact.
  • Partner with finance and cross-functional teams on compliant, auditable billing integrations.
  • Identify platform risks, technical debt, and consolidation opportunities.
  • Develop deep knowledge of data ingestion pipelines, transformation layers, and data artifact delivery on GCP and BigQuery.
  • Partner with data engineering on data models, views, and dashboards.
  • Advocate for data governance, lineage, scalability, usability, and privacy-compliant data handling.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a Product Owner or Technical Product Manager, with a track record of deep feature ownership in platform, infrastructure, or data-centric environments.
  • Proven ability to become the go-to SME for the products and features you own — including technical depth, not just business context.
  • Strong understanding of cloud-based data platforms, pipelines, and tools (BigQuery, dbt, Airflow, etc.).
  • Ability to write and execute SQL queries against BigQuery as part of UAT validation — confirming pipeline outputs, transformation logic, and data accuracy meet acceptance criteria.
  • Skilled in Agile development frameworks and tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Figma).
  • Experience conducting and managing User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure product quality and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Effective communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience coordinating software release cycles, QA processes, and documentation.
  • Passion for understanding end users and translating insights into actionable product enhancements.
  • Technical background (CS degree or equivalent experience) is a plus.
