About the role

Software Engineer building Hermes Agent, Nous Portal, and infrastructure for Nous Research. Developing product surfaces, backend services, cloud systems, and AI tooling.

Responsibilities

Build Hermes Agent, Nous Portal, and other infrastructure powering Nous Research
Develop product surfaces across web, desktop, and mobile
Build backend services and APIs that support real-world usage
Work on the cloud platform and infrastructure behind products and model serving
Develop tooling for developers and researchers
Address the highest-leverage problems for the company each quarter

A few years building and shipping production software that real people depend on
Depth in at least one area: frontend, backend, infrastructure, systems, or ML tooling
Range to work outside a primary area of depth
Fluency in TypeScript and Python
Comfort using a systems language such as Rust when appropriate
Strong ownership and ability to independently address broken or missing functionality
Heavy use of AI-assisted development in own workflow
Clear communication and low ego
Experience with AI products, LLM applications, agents, or tool-calling workflows (preferred)
Open-source contributions or demonstrable side projects (preferred)
Familiarity with PyTorch, OpenAI-compatible APIs, model routing, or inference (preferred)
