About the role
- CFO leading global finance strategy, compliance, digital-asset accounting, and controls. Building scalable infrastructure for Obsidian Systems’ regulated-markets software consultancy.
Responsibilities
- Lead forecasting, budgeting, and long-range planning across consulting and product business lines
- Ensure compliance across all entities and jurisdictions, including tax filings and reporting requirements
- Oversee financial reporting and controls across the growing multi-entity structure
- Manage accounting, tax treatment, and treasury implications of consulting contracts paid in digital assets
- Support sales and delivery teams with institutional client financial diligence, insurance requirements, security standards, and financial performance disclosures
- Build or rebuild the close process, financial controls, and reporting cadence
- Manage and develop the finance team, currently consisting of a controller and bookkeeper
- Own the fiscal-year close process and maintain audit readiness
- Provide clear financial reporting to founders and stakeholders
- Serve as an operating partner and strategic leader for the business
Requirements
- Proven experience scaling a finance function through significant company growth, ideally through the 100 → 150+ employee range
- Hands-on experience building financial models in spreadsheets and directing a team
- Multi-entity, global experience across multiple entities and countries
- Experience with insurance requirements, security/compliance standards, and financial diligence expectations of large financial institutions
- Crypto/digital asset experience required, including accounting, tax, and treasury implications of crypto-denominated revenue
- Experience building or significantly maturing financial controls and operating processes
- Ability to manage a small team while performing hands-on work
- Experience with international entity structuring, reporting, and compliance across London and Asia Pacific regions is a strong plus
- Puerto Rico tax and compliance experience preferred
- Professional services / consulting business model experience is a plus
