About the role

  • Data Scientist creating machine-learning models for enhanced member engagement at Plusgrade. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive data-driven business solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for designing, building, and implementing machine learning models for strategic business initiatives to ensure the solutions meet business objectives.
  • Collaborate with a team of business and data professionals to plan and execute projects with best-in-class ML models and creatively apply these models.
  • Utilize optimization and simulation expertise to research and recommend the best approaches for solving our business problems.
  • Build pragmatic, scalable, and statistically rigorous solutions that can be applied across products and partners by developing statistical and machine learning methodologies.
  • Continuously improve the models and algorithms through research, testing, and iteration.
  • Elevate the data science discipline by aligning with other data scientists on best practices, automation, and standardization of all advanced analytical solutions, and end-to-end modelling processes, and offer optimizations. Drive execution through fast iteration.

Requirements

  • Over 3 years of experience in developing, testing, and applying machine learning algorithms
  • Proficiency in machine learning, optimization, big data, predictive analytics, time series analysis, recommender systems, reinforcement learning, and visualization tools, with a solid understanding of best practices in data science.
  • Strong programming skills with SQL, Python (and/or R), and associated machine-learning packages.
  • Comprehensive and solid data knowledge and skills, with a good understanding of data warehousing.
  • Experience with handling large, imperfect data is an asset.
  • Experience with implementing ML solutions on the cloud (e.g., Snowflake, AWS) preferred.
  • Ability to communicate/present complex ideas/analysis in a concise, business-friendly manner
  • Experience with ML automation and productionizing machine learning solutions is an asset.
  • Natural curiosity to solve problems and find meaning in complex data sets & customer behaviour analysis.
  • Strong business acumen to apply recommendations in the proper commercial context.
  • Master's or equivalent experience in a quantitative field (e.g. Statistics, Math, Computer Science, Engineering or other related fields).
