About the role
- Senior Project Manager leading complex IT, fintech, and cross-functional initiatives for Canadian news media company. Managing project lifecycles, vendors, budgets, risks, and executive reporting.
Responsibilities
- Lead all aspects of assigned projects from initiation, planning, solutioning/end-state design, execution, testing, and successful delivery of assigned project scope
- Manage initiatives across external vendors and internal departments including Information Technology, Finance, Product, Editorial, Operations, Sales, Subscription Services, and Marketing
- Manage multiple concurrent projects while aligning with business objectives, timelines, budgets, and quality standards
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to create project documentation, including project scope, requirements, decisions, process design, assumptions, and milestones
- Monitor project performance, identify risks, assumptions, and issues, and implement mitigation strategies
- Provide regular updates to senior leadership and stakeholders
- Lead and mentor multidisciplinary teams throughout the project lifecycle
- Contribute to project management practices and PMO maturity through documentation, knowledge sharing, and process optimization
- Deliver insights and recommendations that enhance client service and support data-driven decision-making
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Information Technology, or a related field
- PMP certification strongly preferred
- Minimum 7+ years of progressive experience in project and program management
- Experience leading cross-functional initiatives
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, matrixed organization
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Track record of meeting deadlines and managing competing priorities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
- Analytical mindset with experience interpreting data and identifying trends
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, coach others, and foster collaboration across departments
