About the role
- Journalist reporting for Postmedia’s Fredericton Daily Gleaner. Developing breaking news and multimedia content for web and mobile audiences.
Responsibilities
- Develop content for web, mobile, and other platforms
- Generate daily story ideas and pivot to changing newsroom priorities
- Use social media and digital tools to identify breaking news and real-time reader interests
- Cultivate sources to break stories and help set the news agenda
- Collaborate with digital teams to create interactive multimedia content, including text, photos, and video
- Cover a wide range of news and other subjects under tight deadlines
- Work with Postmedia’s news team and colleagues in the Fredericton Daily Gleaner newsroom
Requirements
- Graduating journalism school student or graduate, or a candidate from a related field
- Ability to quickly layer and prioritize newsroom work
- Flexibility to work effectively in breaking news, features, short form, and non-traditional story formats
- Natural curiosity and ability to uncover hidden story angles
- Ability to explain why and how events happen and convey that meaning concisely
- Experience and strength in video, podcast presentation, and other digital tools is an asset
- Valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle are assets
- Bilingualism in English/French is an asset
- Cover letter, résumé, three published work samples if any, and at least two signed references
- Legally eligible to work in Canada
