About the role
- Journalist reporting and developing multimedia news for Postmedia, a Canadian news media company. Working remotely with the Times & Transcript newsroom in New Brunswick.
Responsibilities
- Develop content for web, mobile, print, and other platforms
- Generate daily story ideas and pivot to newsroom priorities
- Use social media and digital tools to identify breaking news and reader interests
- Cultivate sources to break stories and help set the news agenda
- Create interactive multimedia content with digital teams, including text, photo, and video
- Cover a wide range of news and subjects under tight deadlines
- Work some weekends and statutory holidays
- Report remotely with a Postmedia news team and be assigned to the Times & Transcript
Requirements
- Experienced reporter or journalism school graduate, or candidate from a related field
- Newsroom experience is an asset
- Ability to quickly layer and prioritize tasks
- Flexibility to work in breaking news, features, short form, and non-traditional story formats
- Curiosity and ability to find hidden story angles
- Ability to convey meaning concisely to readers
- Experience and strength in video, podcast presentation, and other digital tools is an asset
- Valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle are assets
- Bilingualism in English/French is an asset
- Legally eligible to work in Canada
- Cover letter, résumé, three samples of published work if any, and at least two signed references required with application
