About the role
- R&D Technician coordinating samples, inventory, shipping and testing for Puratos, a global bakery, patisserie and chocolate ingredients company. Supporting food innovation, quality and safety onsite.
Responsibilities
- Receive and process sample requests within required timelines using the CRM database
- Pack samples and prepare courier and customs documentation
- Label samples with allergens, kosher status, shelf life and storage conditions
- Share tracking information, follow up on deliveries and resolve delivery issues
- Update requestors, collaborate with stakeholders, and escalate capacity or priority concerns
- Build and maintain inventory of standard product samples within shelf life
- Pull samples from production or warehouse, relieve inventory in SAP, and order products from other Puratos facilities
- Manage the sample database and report monthly shipping KPIs
- Maintain lab supplies and ingredients in the OAK ingredient database
- Support product development and adaptation by scaling, preparing samples and relieving inventory
- Create standard product samples such as mixes and fillings
- Run analytical and application tests on competitive products with guidance
- Support sensory work, consumer tests and customer visits
- Keep bakery, lab and storage areas clean, organized and stocked
- Order lab and packaging supplies and ensure equipment and tools are working properly
- Support efficient R&D lab and Innovation Centre use through planning, 5S and GMPs
- Follow traceability, GMP, Health & Safety and Food Safety requirements and report issues promptly
Requirements
- Post-secondary diploma or degree, preferably in the sciences, with a practical, hands-on mindset
- Working proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong data management skills across multiple systems
- Excellent organization, attention to detail and time management, with the ability to multitask and prioritize
- Strong English communication skills, one-on-one and in groups, with a focus on win-win solutions
- Proactive, self-motivated team player who looks for process improvements
- Ability to lift 25 kg and stand for extended periods
- Excellent safety record and reliable attendance
- Experience in a food production facility is an asset
- Onsite role with up to 10% travel
- Curiosity about digital tools, data and AI, and comfort learning new systems
- Experience with SAP and/or CRM is an asset
