About the role
- Silicon Photonics Designer and Tester Engineer designing PICs and optimizing photonic devices. Collaborating in a supportive lab environment with focus on independent problem-solving.
Responsibilities
- Design and test silicon photonic integrated circuits (PICs) at the die level
- Develop and work with opto-mechanical setups including lasers, optical fibers, electrical probes, and polarizers
- Perform device simulations and data analysis to optimize photonic designs
- Set up and operate both manual and automated testing equipment for optical measurements
- Troubleshoot and solve technical challenges in a collaborative team environment
- Ensure accuracy in all measurements and test results
Requirements
- Master or PhD degree in Engineering Physics or Electrical engineering
- Minimum 2 years of experience in silicon photonics design and testing
- Hands-on experience with testing at die level, optical fibers, electrical probes, and polarization experiments
- Proficiency in device simulations and data analysis
- Experience with layout design for photonic devices
- Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, and Ansys Lumerical
- Strong mechanical skills for setting up and adjusting optical test stations
- High attention to detail and ability to ensure accuracy in data collection and reporting
