Adult Day Program Assistant supporting older adults through therapeutic activities and daily living assistance. Serving clients at Peel Region’s onsite Adult Day Services.
Responsibilities
Provide therapeutic and recreational services and support the independence of clients attending the Adult Day Service
Assist with varied activities meeting participants’ needs
Help participants integrate into group activities and programs, including hobbies, social events, spiritual care programs and therapeutic regimes
Assess participants’ abilities and interests and recommend specific programs
Serve meals and snacks according to proper dietary requirements
Provide assistance with all activities of daily living
Maintain appropriate records in accordance with Centre policies, procedures and legislated standards
Perform Day Program Assistant responsibilities as per the job description
Report to the Supervisor, Adult Day and Community Services
Requirements
Post secondary degree/diploma in Activation/Recreation Therapy or Social Services/Gerontology from an accredited community college is required
Previous experience of at least one year in Adult Day Service or a long term care setting is preferred
Effective oral and written communication skills
Ability to communicate appropriately with clients, staff, volunteers and visitors
Computer skills
Valid CPR/First Aid certification
May be required to hold a Class “F” license
Food Handlers Certification
Physically able to perform all delegated duties
