About the role

  • Principal Specialist in Systems Engineering at RTX managing avionics system integration and customer interface. Collaborating with teams to ensure project milestones are achieved on schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the interface with customers (internal and external) during the definition and integration of avionics systems.
  • Deliver program milestones according to the established schedule and effectively manage the critical path and key dependencies to ensure project success.
  • Review detailed execution plans and schedules with the project management team to ensure relevance, completeness, and alignment with the overall program plan.
  • Draft system requirements specification documents for physical and logical interfaces.
  • Define cockpit display formats and control operations in collaboration with the customer.
  • Develop and execute functional test procedures for all avionics subsystems.
  • Advise the customer on the physical installation of avionics equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose avionics issues on the systems integration bench and on flight test aircraft (may require travel).
  • Document, track, and resolve avionics issues resulting from design errors or equipment failures.
  • Prepare certification documentation for subsystems to demonstrate compliance with OEM certification plans (Bombardier or Airbus Canada).
  • Support program-level change management activities.

Requirements

  • University degree typically required with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or a graduate degree in a related field with a minimum of 3 years of experience.
  • Required experience with some or all of the following systems: AFCS, Air Data, Cockpit Audio, Datalink, EFIS, EICAS, Enhanced Vision Systems (EVS), FMS, GPS, HUD, IMA, On-Board Maintenance Systems, Radio Altimeters, Synthetic Vision Systems (SVS), TAWS, TCAS/Transponders, VHF Comm, VHF Nav.
