About the role
- Intermediate Accountant handling full-cycle accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting for Running Room’s running and fitness retail operations. Supporting month-end close and process efficiency from Edmonton’s corporate office.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze general ledger accounts, including balance sheets, income statements, and account reconciliations
- Participate in month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and financial reporting
- Assist in preparing financial statements and working papers for external accountants
- Ensure compliance with Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies or variances in financial data
- Contribute to financial analysis, including variance analysis
- Collaborate with team members and operational departments to resolve accounting-related issues
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and support operational efficiency
- Perform other related duties as required
Requirements
- Demonstrated proficiency in full-cycle accounting, with increasing levels of responsibility over time
- Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel and Word
- Experience with Dynamics 365 Business Central or similar accounting software is an asset
- Willingness to work evenings or weekends as required by deadlines
