About the role

  • Christmas Kettle Coordinator overseeing Salvation Army kettle locations, workers, volunteers, and donations in Strathroy. Scheduling campaign coverage and supporting community fundraising operations.

Responsibilities

  • Attend training/orientation on The Salvation Army and the Christmas Kettle Campaign
  • Support delivery of kettles to zone locations before campaign staff and volunteers arrive
  • Ensure donations are delivered to a secure location at the end of each shift
  • Communicate daily issues and supply deficiencies to the supervisor
  • Orient and remind staff and volunteers about proper kettle handling and duties
  • Supervise, support, assign, and coordinate Christmas Kettle Workers and volunteers
  • Visit locations during shift changes and intermittently
  • Ensure accurate and timely weekly submission of timesheets and mileage reports
  • Remain at kettles for full shifts until relieved and ensure donation security
  • Respond to donor questions about Salvation Army ministries and programs
  • Promote, coordinate, and oversee Christmas Kettle Campaign activities
  • Schedule staff and volunteers and respond to emergency absences
  • Participate in recruitment and conduct orientation and performance management of kettle workers
  • Maintain positive relationships with kettle sites
  • Coordinate daily delivery and pickup of kettles and handle emergency delivery/pickup when needed
  • Host at kettles as required to ensure break coverage
  • Ensure kettle locations have adequate literature and supplies
  • Record statistical data and prepare weekly timesheets
  • Organize retrieval of equipment and supplies after the campaign
  • Report directly to the Corps Officer

Requirements

  • Some high school coursework; completion of high school is an asset
  • Minimum of one year of related experience or working in customer service
  • Money handling experience is an asset
  • Experience in office administration
  • Experience with general office equipment
  • Strong skills and experience using Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License
  • Personal vehicle and insurance required
  • Current satisfactory driver’s abstract required
  • Ability to lift/move 9 to 12 kgs (20–25 lbs.)
  • Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully
  • Ability and willingness to develop an understanding of and support for The Salvation Army’s mission and purpose in Canada
  • Must work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Strong customer service, communication, interpersonal, listening, problem-solving, analytical, and multitasking skills
  • Honest, courteous, punctual, adaptable, and able to work in a fast-paced office setting
