About the role

  • Senior Environmental Engineer providing environmental engineering guidance and leading infrastructure projects. Collaborating on environmental initiatives while ensuring compliance with regulations and industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide environmental engineering and design guidance to Department staff and partner government agencies
  • Represent the Department on committees and multidisciplinary project teams
  • Work collaboratively across regions to address unique environmental challenges
  • Lead complex environmental initiatives, including the management of contaminated sites
  • Provide technical expertise on regulated building materials
  • Lead environmental assessments, screenings, and permitting activities
  • Coordinate research and analysis on environmental engineering technologies and practices
  • Engage and manage external contractors and consultants

Requirements

  • A Bachelor of Engineering
  • Minimum of six (6) years of related experience managing complex environmental risks
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.)
  • Membership in good standing with Engineers Nova Scotia
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and industry standards
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex environmental projects
  • Ability to work in both office and field environments
