Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering for multidisciplinary automation, instrumentation, and control projects, from basic studies through detailed engineering
  • Assess client needs and contribute to requirements gathering
  • Design instrumentation and control systems
  • Prepare and review I&C plans, diagrams, and control architectures
  • Select instrumentation and control equipment and coordinate with suppliers
  • Update P&IDs and instrumentation and control data
  • Develop interconnection diagrams and functional descriptions
  • Write and maintain technical documentation, specifications, analyses, lists, protocols, and test reports
  • Design control and instrumentation panels
  • Prepare tender packages and related technical documents
  • Contribute to proposals, preliminary estimates, and technical clarifications
  • Ensure the consistency of deliverables and their compliance with applicable standards
  • Develop, modify, and commission automation solutions
  • Program and configure PLCs and HMI/SCADA interfaces
  • Participate in FAT/SAT testing, troubleshooting, and on-site commissioning
  • Contribute to meeting schedules and budgets and to the quality of deliverables
  • Identify technical risks, propose solutions, and escalate issues as needed
  • Collaborate with technicians, drafters, and engineers; support and review the work of junior staff
  • Design or contribute to industrial network topologies and related architectures
  • Participate in fee estimates for project opportunities
  • Occasionally oversee construction activities at the worksite

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automated Production Engineering, or an equivalent field
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ); the position requires signing plans and specifications in Quebec
  • Approximately 8 to 10 years of experience in automation, instrumentation, and control
  • Experience preparing technical documentation and participating in testing phases (FAT/SAT)
  • Programmable logic controllers (Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider, etc.)
  • HMI/SCADA interfaces
  • Electrical design principles and control systems (loops, I/O, alarms, interlocks, basic PID)
  • Ability to work as part of a team, initiative, rigor, and strong attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in French
  • Availability for occasional travel to client sites
  • Consulting engineering experience (a significant asset)
  • Ability to interact directly with clients
  • Good understanding of applicable codes, regulations, and industry standards (an asset)
  • Interest in industrial networks, virtualization, basic OT cybersecurity, and IIoT/diagnostic systems
  • Ability to occasionally support and mentor junior staff
  • Eligible to obtain the PMC qualification required by certain clients
  • ASP Construction card (depending on assignments) – Asset
