Senior Forward Deployed Engineer building and deploying production networking, AI, and cloud solutions for Extreme Networks customers. Owning integrations, automation, and technical outcomes from design through production readiness.
Responsibilities
Work directly with customer technical teams to understand workflows, systems, data, technical constraints, and desired outcomes
Collaborate with customers and other Forward Deployed Engineers to design and deliver production solutions using Extreme's products and platforms
Own significant technical components or workstreams from design and implementation through deployment and production readiness
Write production-quality software, including applications, agents, APIs, integrations, data connectors, tools, skills, workflows, and automation
Integrate Extreme's products and platforms with customer systems, data sources, APIs, identity systems, infrastructure, and operational workflows
Build and maintain automated tests, AI evaluations, deployment automation, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code
Implement logging, monitoring, tracing, and other observability for reliable production operation
Diagnose and resolve complex issues across software, data, integrations, networking, infrastructure, and AI components
Participate in architecture, design, and code reviews and contribute to technical decisions
Support production deployment and stabilization and ensure components meet production-readiness requirements
Create technical documentation, deployment guidance, and operational runbooks
Identify reusable components, integrations, tools, skills, automation, and engineering patterns
Identify platform gaps and define feature requirements with Product teams
Contribute to engineering standards, technical practices, and knowledge sharing
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience
5+ years of experience across the software development lifecycle, including design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production operations
Proficiency in one or more general-purpose programming languages such as Python, Java, Go, TypeScript, C#, or C++
Experience building and operating distributed, cloud-based, or enterprise software systems
Experience with APIs, integrations, data, containers, and modern software deployment practices
Experience debugging complex software or systems issues and delivering production-quality solutions
Ability to work through ambiguous technical problems and drive engineering work to completion
Experience collaborating directly with customers, partners, or external technical teams
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to travel to customer sites as required by the engagement
Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Machine Learning, or a related discipline (preferred)
Experience with LLM-based or agentic systems
Familiarity with Model Context Protocol (MCP) and modern agent frameworks
Experience with networking, network management, telemetry, observability, or distributed systems
Experience with Kubernetes, containers, infrastructure-as-code, and CI/CD
Experience integrating enterprise APIs, data platforms, identity systems, and operational applications
Experience with distributed data platforms, streaming systems, or real-time processing
Prior experience in Forward Deployed Engineering or another technical customer-facing software engineering role
