About the role

  • Side/OD Grinding Operator producing automotive components for Schaeffler in Stratford. Operating, calibrating, maintaining, and inspecting production machines while resolving process issues.

Responsibilities

  • Work under direct supervision of immediate Leader and routine operational guidance of others
  • Follow standard work instructions and work specifications
  • Collect, record, document and enter all data as required
  • Operate all machines and perform required changeover activities within the defined work area according to the operator certification process
  • Set up, calibrate and maintain tools, measuring devices, equipment, systems, processes and machines used to perform work
  • Complete changeover documentation and first-piece paperwork as required
  • Perform required operator TPM (Total Preventative Maintenance)
  • Perform intermediate problem solving and troubleshoot production/process issues to meet required standards
  • Ensure the quality and quantity of work produced by the process
  • Inspect own work using precision measuring equipment to assess quality
  • Train other operators as needed
  • Work in other departments or set up a process for others to operate when required
  • Read and interpret production prints
  • Confirm operational/technical questions with the area Setter, Technician where applicable, or Leader when necessary

Requirements

  • Grade 12 diploma
  • Perform successfully as an Operator Level I within the work area or have equivalent work experience
  • Meet training requirements defined for the position
  • Able to read and interpret production prints
  • Able to operate and change over all machines within the defined work area according to operator certification
  • Able to set up, calibrate and maintain tools, measuring devices, equipment, systems, processes and machines
  • Able to perform precision inspection using measuring equipment
  • Candidate must be able to pass Canadian Controlled Goods Assessment
  • Candidate must pass a criminal background check
  • Candidate must be compliant with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
  • Temporary residents/international students require a Canadian government exemption for access to export-controlled goods; processing takes a minimum of 2 months from offer acceptance
