About the role
- French Translation Specialist translating and revising corporate, marketing, and insurance content for Securian Canada. Supporting bilingual communications, vendor quality, terminology standards, and French RFP responses.
Responsibilities
- Support French (Canadian) language and translation efforts at Securian Canada
- Translate company materials from English to French, including presentations, press releases, social media content, employee communications, newsletters, website content, and company policies
- Ensure French translation compliance and consistency among departments
- Coordinate with third-party translation and interpretation vendors, evaluate vendor translation quality, and ensure effective resourcing
- Review and revise translations from external vendors or internal resources for terminology, style, tone, and French-language quality
- Maintain the standardized lexicon, internal terminology bank, and style guide, including product and insurance terminology
- Write French RFP responses and other French-first/French-only materials
- Track monthly usage metrics to analyze volumes and trends
- Translate primarily from English to French (80%) and support French to English translations (20%)
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in translation (Eng-Fr) from a recognized academic institution
- Certification from a recognized translators' association (OTTIAQ, ATIO, CTINB)
- Minimum five years translation and revision experience, preferably in the insurance industry or a related field
- Superior organizational skills and scrupulous attention to detail
- Intellectual curiosity and excellent judgment
- Excellent computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office software
- Strong ability to work both independently and within a team environment
