About the role
- Freelance linguists translating and editing video game content for Terra Localizations, a global language services company. Supporting TEP, MTPE, subtitling, and audio QA projects.
Responsibilities
- Translate English video game content into accurate, natural, and engaging target-language text
- Edit and proofread translations for accuracy, fluency, consistency, and style
- Post-edit machine-translated content to meet project quality requirements
- Work on dialogue, UI, tutorials, item descriptions, and promotional materials
- Maintain gaming terminology and follow glossaries, style guides, and client instructions
- Identify linguistic issues and raise questions when context or clarification is needed
- Potentially provide subtitling or audio QA for subtitles (ASREC)
Requirements
- Native proficiency in the target language and excellent command of English
- Professional translation, editing, proofreading, and/or MTPE experience
- Experience in video game localization, including gaming terminology and culture
- Excellent writing skills and attention to detail
- Familiarity with CAT tools and localization workflows
- Ability to follow project guidelines and meet agreed deadlines
- Reliable internet connection
- Recognized translation degree or certification, or a university degree in another field with at least three years of professional translation or interpreting experience
- memoQ experience is a plus
