Responsibilities
- Maintain industry leading standards for mining engineering work
- Working with limited supervision, develop mine designs based on the information gathered or provided, depending upon the needs of the client and the scope of the project assigned
- Underground optimization (using Deswik or similar specialist software) and mine design, life-of-mine scheduling and Mineral Reserve estimation using current mine planning and scheduling software packages
- Estimation of project capital and operating costs and financial modeling and analysis
- Preliminary Economic Assessments, scoping, prefeasibility, and feasibility studies
- Assessment, due diligence and technical auditing/review of mines and projects
- Project management
- Report writing and client presentations
- Support business development across the team and wider business
Requirements
- Post-secondary degree in mining, civil, or geotechnical engineering
- Minimum of five years’ experience at operating mines, with preference given to candidates who have worked in both underground and open pit mines
- Familiar with international and public disclosure and reporting codes, including NI 43-101, JORC, SAMREC, Competent Persons Reports, and Mineral Expert Reports etc.
- Experience with mine planning
- Expert user of at least one industry standard optimization, mine design and scheduling software package such as Datamine, Deswik, Vulcan, and Surpac.
- Registered as a P. Eng (Professional Engineer) in Canada
- Travel will be required, including to international destinations. A valid passport is a requirement.
- Fluency in any of Spanish/French/Portuguese languages would be advantageous.
