About the role

  • Payroll Analyst processing Canadian payroll for Softchoice, an IT solutions provider. Managing ADP Workforce Now, reconciliations, statutory filings, and employee payroll inquiries.

Responsibilities

  • Support accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing for employees across Canada, with some support for US and/or global payrolls as required
  • Participate in Canadian payroll processing using ADP Workforce Now
  • Validate payroll data from SAP SuccessFactors and other HRIS sources, including demographic data, tax location, compensation changes, leaves, deductions, earnings, and direct deposits
  • Partner with ADP service representatives to process payroll and resolve issues or exceptions
  • Enter payroll adjustments, one-time payments, retro payments, and other payroll entries in ADP Auto Form
  • Ensure accurate terminations, vacation pay calculations, Records of Employment, and final pay requirements
  • Process and remit employer and employee payroll deductions and contributions, including garnishments, workers’ compensation, benefit deductions, and RRSP
  • Support ROE preparation after applicable payroll cycles
  • Assist with quarter- and year-end reconciliation, balancing, statutory filings, T4/RL-1, T2200, TP-64, Workers Compensation, and Employer Health Tax reporting
  • Monitor the payroll inbox and respond to employee and internal partner inquiries
  • Pull reports from SuccessFactors and ADP WFN, validate system data, investigate discrepancies, and make corrections
  • Audit payroll records for new hires, terminations, salary increases, deductions, direct deposits, taxable benefits, and earnings
  • Conduct employee tax setup in ADP Workforce Now
  • Assist with integration activities such as testing and system configuration
  • Collaborate with HR, Finance, and internal partners to resolve discrepancies and improve payroll processes and controls

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years of payroll experience
  • Sound knowledge of Canadian payroll, employment standards, statutory deductions, and related compliance requirements
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now is a must
  • Advanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, formulas, and data validation techniques
  • Comfort using Copilot, Claude, and other AI-enabled tools
  • Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with SAP SuccessFactors is an asset
  • Understanding of global payroll rules and regulations is a definite asset
  • Payroll Compliance Professional designation, Canadian Payroll Association designation, or equivalent experience is preferred
  • Post-secondary education in Finance, Payroll, Accounting, HR, or related fields is recommended
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, confidentiality, and data integrity
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume, deadline-driven environment
  • Before starting, must complete a criminal record check, education verification, and reference checks
