Responsibilities
In your role as DAD avionics systems engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out a variety of tasks related to the development, testing, certification, production and in-service support of avionics systems for next‑generation business aircraft.
Be responsible for and support the timely integration of systems such as: AFCS, communications (VHF, HF, SATCOM, data link), navigation (ADF, VOR, ILS, DME, TCAS, transponder, IRS, GPS, FMS, weather radar), displays (EFIS, EICAS, HUD, SVS), as well as information/maintenance and recording systems (IMS, OMS, data loading, CVR, FDR, AHMS), etc., onto the aircraft.
Support the definition and management of overall system and sub-system requirements to ensure compliance with aircraft safety, certification and design requirements.
Collaborate with system suppliers as well as other vendors and disciplines involved in the program to ensure an adequate system design for smooth integration on the aircraft and compliance with certification requirements.
Participate in or assist with certain certification tests, inspections and/or audits.
Review and approve compliance reports on behalf of SOGECLAIR, in accordance with approved certification plans.
Ensure continued airworthiness of avionics systems in accordance with applicable regulations, standards and guidance.
Approve and recommend certification plans on behalf of SOGECLAIR to obtain regulatory authority acceptance of means and methods of compliance and level of involvement.
Support the final assembly line and in-service aircraft for any design-related issues and ensure their resolution.
Participate in the development and implementation of tools and processes required for the function to achieve organizational objectives.
Requirements
You hold a university degree in electrical, electronic, software, aerospace engineering or equivalent.
Current or in-progress DAD / DAR status is an asset (you have satisfied the requirements of Transport Canada AWM 505 “Delegation of Authority” 505.409).
You know and maintain working relationships with Transport Canada (TCCA), EASA or the FAA.
You have a good knowledge of civil airworthiness regulations FAR Part 25 applicable to avionics as well as industry reference documents (RTCA and ARP) related to avionics certification requirements for TCCA, EASA and the FAA.
You have extensive experience in systems design, testing and certification of avionics systems: autopilot, communications, navigation (including FMS), display/recording systems, onboard maintenance systems, etc.
You have knowledge and/or experience with Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) systems.
You are familiar with industry standards DO-178, DO-160, DO-254, ARP4754 and ARP4761.
You possess strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
You have excellent problem-solving, planning and prioritization skills.
You are able to work effectively in a team.
