About the role

  • Senior Engineering Specialist reviewing and assessing supplier’s airborne software and hardware designs at Sogeclair. Ensuring they meet technical and regulatory requirements in a hybrid work setting.

Responsibilities

  • In this role you will be responsible for reviewing and assessing suppliers' embedded software and electronic hardware designs to ensure their compliance with SOGECLAIR's technical requirements and regulatory obligations.
  • Participate in preliminary and critical system design reviews at SOGECLAIR
  • Review and assess suppliers' certification plans for embedded software and electronic hardware
  • Review and assess suppliers' embedded software and electronic hardware designs (FPGA, ASIC, PLD)
  • Conduct technical and process audits at suppliers' facilities
  • Perform flight safety reviews
  • Evaluate the results and analyses of software and hardware tests and determine the final compliance status
  • Lead the resolution of safety, compliance, or technical issues with suppliers and SOGECLAIR stakeholders
  • Prepare and/or revise design compliance reports
  • Contribute to the evolution of the SWEL (software and electronics) roadmap
  • Mentor and support less-experienced professionals

Requirements

  • You hold a university degree in engineering (electronic, software, aerospace or equivalent)
  • You have a minimum of 15 years' experience in a technical engineering field, including at least 10 years in aerospace
  • You have at least 5 years' experience in FPGA or ASIC development and/or embedded software development for aerospace applications
  • You possess excellent knowledge of standards applicable to embedded software and aerospace electronic hardware and Means of Compliance, notably:
  • RTCA DO-178B/C, DO-248B/C, DO-254, DO-330
  • EASA CM-SWCEH-002 (associated with DO-178B) and CM-SWCEH-001
  • FAA AC 20-115D and AC 20-152A
  • FAA Order 8110.49A and 8110.105A
  • You have knowledge of requirements management environments (DOORS, JAMA)
  • You are proficient in several programming languages (C, C++, Ada95, Assembly, Python) as well as multiple hardware description languages
  • You have a good understanding of embedded computer architectures
  • You have knowledge of operating systems and real-time executives
  • You possess general knowledge in electronics and software programming
  • You have experience with civil aircraft and airworthiness authorities
  • You are a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)
  • You have demonstrated that you are proactive, adaptable and flexible, that you take initiative, are innovative, and have a strong sense of responsibility and integrity.
