About the role

  • Géotechnique engineer conducting site investigations for various studies at Stantec. Contributing to geotechnical reports and ensuring site safety in diverse environments.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in geotechnical studies ranging from small- to large-scale projects
  • Carry out the placement of boreholes and logging of sondages
  • Supervise fieldwork, including drilling operations and various in-situ tests
  • Collect soil samples and describe their components in accordance with applicable standards
  • Perform various types of in-situ tests, such as shear strength tests, Lugeon tests, electronic piezocone (CPTu), etc.
  • Maintain the site log
  • Assemble and inspect equipment and ensure proper calibration
  • Contribute to technical reports, proposing clear, precise, and well-considered solutions

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in geological engineering or civil engineering with a geology focus
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
  • Familiarity with the operation of the vane shear tester (scissomètre) and other in-situ tests
  • Familiarity with environmental sampling procedures for soil and groundwater
  • Fluency in French, both written and spoken
  • Completion of a program of study in geotechnical engineering
  • Master’s degree is an asset
  • Knowledge of GeoStudio and Settle3D software
  • Knowledge of English is an asset to facilitate collaboration with our teams outside Quebec or with our clients
  • Experience with geotechnical laboratory testing
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
  • ASP card
  • Willingness to travel to various sites across the province; enjoy working outdoors
