About the role
- Géotechnique engineer conducting site investigations for various studies at Stantec. Contributing to geotechnical reports and ensuring site safety in diverse environments.
Responsibilities
- Participate in geotechnical studies ranging from small- to large-scale projects
- Carry out the placement of boreholes and logging of sondages
- Supervise fieldwork, including drilling operations and various in-situ tests
- Collect soil samples and describe their components in accordance with applicable standards
- Perform various types of in-situ tests, such as shear strength tests, Lugeon tests, electronic piezocone (CPTu), etc.
- Maintain the site log
- Assemble and inspect equipment and ensure proper calibration
- Contribute to technical reports, proposing clear, precise, and well-considered solutions
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in geological engineering or civil engineering with a geology focus
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
- Familiarity with the operation of the vane shear tester (scissomètre) and other in-situ tests
- Familiarity with environmental sampling procedures for soil and groundwater
- Fluency in French, both written and spoken
- Completion of a program of study in geotechnical engineering
- Master’s degree is an asset
- Knowledge of GeoStudio and Settle3D software
- Knowledge of English is an asset to facilitate collaboration with our teams outside Quebec or with our clients
- Experience with geotechnical laboratory testing
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
- ASP card
- Willingness to travel to various sites across the province; enjoy working outdoors
