About the role
- Intermediate Hydrotechnical Engineer working with water resources projects at Stantec. Involves developing hydrodynamic models, collaborating with teams, and technical reporting.
Responsibilities
- Develop hydrodynamic models using tools such as MIKE 3, MIKE 21, and Telemac and coding languages (python, R, Matlab) to support coastal and river engineering projects
- Demonstrate solid understanding of coastal process including wave transformation and sediment transport
- Apply a strong understanding of hydrologic and hydraulic principles, with proficiency in HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, and PCSWMM
- Prepare clear and comprehensive technical reports documenting field investigations, analytical findings, and interpretations
- Support proposal development and assist in creating work plans, project schedules, and budgets, while managing assigned projects and tasks
- Collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams, contributing to a cohesive and productive work environment
- Demonstrate a solid understanding and consistent application of industry standards, guidelines, and regulatory frameworks
- Perform primarily office-based work, involving extended periods of computer use and data analysis
Requirements
- Graduate degree in Engineering with a focus on hydrodynamics, water resources, or hydrology
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in consulting or regulatory environments
- Mining experience is an asset, specifically mine water balances and mine water management.
- Regular use of hydrodynamic modeling tools
- Professional registration with APGNS or Engineers NS (or equivalent provincial entity) or eligibility to obtain P.Eng. or P.Geo.
- Valid G-class driver’s license required
