About the role

  • Intermediate Hydrotechnical Engineer working with water resources projects at Stantec. Involves developing hydrodynamic models, collaborating with teams, and technical reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Develop hydrodynamic models using tools such as MIKE 3, MIKE 21, and Telemac and coding languages (python, R, Matlab) to support coastal and river engineering projects
  • Demonstrate solid understanding of coastal process including wave transformation and sediment transport
  • Apply a strong understanding of hydrologic and hydraulic principles, with proficiency in HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, and PCSWMM
  • Prepare clear and comprehensive technical reports documenting field investigations, analytical findings, and interpretations
  • Support proposal development and assist in creating work plans, project schedules, and budgets, while managing assigned projects and tasks
  • Collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams, contributing to a cohesive and productive work environment
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding and consistent application of industry standards, guidelines, and regulatory frameworks
  • Perform primarily office-based work, involving extended periods of computer use and data analysis

Requirements

  • Graduate degree in Engineering with a focus on hydrodynamics, water resources, or hydrology
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in consulting or regulatory environments
  • Mining experience is an asset, specifically mine water balances and mine water management.
  • Regular use of hydrodynamic modeling tools
  • Professional registration with APGNS or Engineers NS (or equivalent provincial entity) or eligibility to obtain P.Eng. or P.Geo.
  • Valid G-class driver’s license required
