About the role

  • Pipeline Engineer in Training assisting with pipeline design and compliance under professional supervision at Stantec. Collaborating with stakeholders and performing engineering calculations and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform design work and ensure the drafting of the pipeline alignment sheets, detailed crossings plans, and related pipeline facilities is accurate
  • Perform design calculations compliant with applicable codes and standards
  • Provide appropriate engineering input and a technical overview to design activities undertaken by design/drafting staff residing within or outside the project team
  • Create material requisitions and, if necessary, review quotations for compliance with technical specifications
  • Contribute to cost estimates in small to large sized projects in collaboration with all other disciplines
  • Ensure that the deliverables provided to the project are technically accurate, within specifications, scope, budget and schedule, suitable for the intended purpose and in compliance with quality procedures and project plans
  • Opportunities for field-based engineering construction support may be available on a project-specific basis

Requirements

  • General understanding of the application of engineering principles and quality control processes
  • Familiarity with pipeline design codes and standards such as CSA Z662 and the Z245 series
  • Ability to manage your time and complete tasks according to schedules and deadlines
  • Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought
  • Thorough understanding of engineering concepts and the ability to effectively communicate ideas to others
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical, Civil or Pipeline Engineering
  • Registered with APEGA as an Engineering in Training (EIT)
  • New Graduate to 4 years engineering experience with a preference for exposure to the pipeline industry
