About the role

Responsibilities

  • Maintain active market intelligence, represent Stantec at mining events, establish sustainable strategic relationships, and contribute to revenue growth
  • Lead the preparation of proposals, manage business follow-up, and present technical solutions tailored to client needs
  • Manage complex mining projects from design through construction, including tailings, waste rock, water management, earthworks, and dams
  • Act as Engineer of Record (EOR), support risk analyses, safety reviews and site inspections in accordance with GISTM and CDA and MAC guidance
  • Design and plan tailings storage facilities (TSFs), waste rock storage facilities (WRSFs), and water management systems, including dams and containment structures that comply with applicable standards
  • Conduct risk assessments, safety reviews and dam inspections, analyze structural performance and recommend optimizations
  • Contribute to the development of closure and reclamation plans in compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Oversee the production and review of technical documentation, provide support to field teams and collaborate closely with related disciplines
  • Demonstrate strong teamwork in identifying business opportunities and in forming, mobilizing and managing multidisciplinary teams
  • Ensure rigorous technical review of team reports and deliverables to guarantee quality, consistency and compliance with established standards
  • Prepare and contribute to comprehensive, rigorous, high-quality engineering reports that meet technical and regulatory requirements
  • Produce technical deliverables suitable for all study phases (Concept, PEA, PFS, FS, and Detailed Design)
  • Draft technical memos, design criteria and detailed stability analyses, ensuring clarity, consistency and traceability of assumptions and results

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in civil, geotechnical engineering or a related discipline; PhD in geotechnical engineering considered a major asset
  • Minimum 15 years in mining consulting engineering, with deep expertise in mine waste/tailings management
  • Strong experience in the design, operation and management of tailings storage facilities (TSFs), including water management and geotechnical characterization of mining materials
  • Active member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ), with thorough knowledge of GISTM and CDA and MAC guidance
  • Excellent communication skills in French and English, with strong mentoring abilities and experience working effectively in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams
  • Recognized contributions through technical publications and/or presentations at mining industry conferences
