Responsibilities
- Work with our globally recognized team on HVDC and FACTS projects around the world
- Support our clients by performing front end engineering design activities
- Developing technical specifications, evaluating tenders, reviewing design submissions
- Witnessing factory tests and supporting commissioning activities
- Participating in business development activities
- Participating in industry technical committees
- Writing technical papers
- Preparing and presenting technical presentations
Requirements
- BSc in electrical engineering required
- Minimum of 15 years of industry experience with at least 10 years of HVDC/FACTS experience
- Registered or eligible for professional registration in Canada or the US
- Knowledge of the application and operation of HVDC/FACTS
- Knowledge of HVDC/FACTS design including knowledge of valves, valve cooling, reactors/capacitors, transformers, controls etc.
- Experience in preparing technical specifications and tender documents for HVDC converters and FACTS devices, evaluating bids, performing design reviews, witnessing factory tests and on-site commissioning.
- Knowledge in the control and protection of HVDC/FACTS technologies including witnessing and reviewing results from factory and on-site testing.
- Knowledge in studies associated with HVDC/FACTS and their application in power systems
- Knowledge of applicable codes and standards related to HVDC transmission and FACTS
- Strong oral and written skills
- High level of interpersonal skills
