About the role

Responsibilities

  • Work with our globally recognized team on HVDC and FACTS projects around the world
  • Support our clients by performing front end engineering design activities
  • Developing technical specifications, evaluating tenders, reviewing design submissions
  • Witnessing factory tests and supporting commissioning activities
  • Participating in business development activities
  • Participating in industry technical committees
  • Writing technical papers
  • Preparing and presenting technical presentations

Requirements

  • BSc in electrical engineering required
  • Minimum of 15 years of industry experience with at least 10 years of HVDC/FACTS experience
  • Registered or eligible for professional registration in Canada or the US
  • Knowledge of the application and operation of HVDC/FACTS
  • Knowledge of HVDC/FACTS design including knowledge of valves, valve cooling, reactors/capacitors, transformers, controls etc.
  • Experience in preparing technical specifications and tender documents for HVDC converters and FACTS devices, evaluating bids, performing design reviews, witnessing factory tests and on-site commissioning.
  • Knowledge in the control and protection of HVDC/FACTS technologies including witnessing and reviewing results from factory and on-site testing.
  • Knowledge in studies associated with HVDC/FACTS and their application in power systems
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards related to HVDC transmission and FACTS
  • Strong oral and written skills
  • High level of interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to travel
