About the role

  • Senior Protection & Control Engineer responsible for substation engineering and project design at Stantec. Collaborate within project teams to deliver electrical design for high voltage systems.

Responsibilities

  • Developing engineering and protection and control drawings of substation systems and power systems
  • Leading and mentoring Junior and Intermediate engineers
  • Performing quality reviews of protection and control designs
  • Prepare reports that present technical and project information in a clear and concise manner and meet client requirements
  • Preparation of Electrical design packages
  • Coordinate with designers and engineers of other disciplines to complete deliverables
  • Interpret and incorporate vendor information into design deliverables
  • Perform QA/QC of electrical engineering design packages
  • Provide regular progress updates related to deliverables on project
  • Support commissioning and field engineering
  • Development of Project Estimates
  • Interface directly with clients and direct work for a team

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Electrical Engineering, with 12 years or more of related experience
  • Professional Engineering designation is a requirement
  • Strong safety mindset
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and develop strong client relationships
  • Strong organization skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Senior level experience and knowledge of protection and control systems within substations, power systems and renewable energy systems
  • Ability to manage and deliver Engineering deliverables as per project schedules and budgets
  • Ability to work closely with drafters, engineers and leads to meet project timelines for engineering deliverables
  • Ability to understand client specific requirements (standards & specifications) and applicable codes & regulations for preparing physical electrical packages
  • Operating knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and other relevant design standards.
  • Ability to capture all technical data needed for estimates and execution of related substation expansions
  • Proficient with standard office software such as MS Excel, MS Word, Adobe Acrobat
