About the role
- Senior Protection & Control Engineer responsible for substation engineering and project design at Stantec. Collaborate within project teams to deliver electrical design for high voltage systems.
Responsibilities
- Developing engineering and protection and control drawings of substation systems and power systems
- Leading and mentoring Junior and Intermediate engineers
- Performing quality reviews of protection and control designs
- Prepare reports that present technical and project information in a clear and concise manner and meet client requirements
- Preparation of Electrical design packages
- Coordinate with designers and engineers of other disciplines to complete deliverables
- Interpret and incorporate vendor information into design deliverables
- Perform QA/QC of electrical engineering design packages
- Provide regular progress updates related to deliverables on project
- Support commissioning and field engineering
- Development of Project Estimates
- Interface directly with clients and direct work for a team
Requirements
- Bachelor of Electrical Engineering, with 12 years or more of related experience
- Professional Engineering designation is a requirement
- Strong safety mindset
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and develop strong client relationships
- Strong organization skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
- Senior level experience and knowledge of protection and control systems within substations, power systems and renewable energy systems
- Ability to manage and deliver Engineering deliverables as per project schedules and budgets
- Ability to work closely with drafters, engineers and leads to meet project timelines for engineering deliverables
- Ability to understand client specific requirements (standards & specifications) and applicable codes & regulations for preparing physical electrical packages
- Operating knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and other relevant design standards.
- Ability to capture all technical data needed for estimates and execution of related substation expansions
- Proficient with standard office software such as MS Excel, MS Word, Adobe Acrobat
