Senior Financial Analyst supporting Sun Life Canada’s expense planning, reporting and financial transformation. Building models, analyzing cost drivers and advising business leaders.
Responsibilities
Build and improve financial models and processes supporting monthly and quarterly reporting
Analyze expense trends to drive management action and optimize operating expenses
Use data-driven models to report financial and non-financial metrics with commentary and insights
Support expense budgeting, forecasting, strategic planning and annual planning processes
Develop expense roll-forwards from cycle to cycle
Recognize and implement continuous improvements
Document financial models and processes for repeatable and sustainable operations
Build partnerships with business leaders and serve as a trusted financial advisor
Lead or support ad hoc financial analysis and consulting, including expense studies and cost-benefit analyses
Explain common charges and Sun Life’s expense management process to business partners
Requirements
5+ years of financial planning, reporting and analysis experience, including budgeting, expense management and variance analysis
Preferably experience in Financial Services
Financial designation with strong preference for CPA or MBA with commensurate experience
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Experience building executive-level presentation and content
Analytical thinking and use of financial and business analytics for decision making
Strong relationship management and client orientation
Strong prioritization and organization skills; ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, high-performance environment
Proficient in MS Office Suite – Excel, Word, PowerPoint
Project reporting and project governance experience is an asset
Experience with data management tools such as Tableau, Planview, Python, Hyperion, etc.
Results-oriented and critical thinking with a high sense of ownership
Ability to distill complex concepts into simple key messages and insights
Curious mindset and comfort with ambiguity and change
Problem-solving skills and curiosity for root cause analysis
Some overtime required during peak reporting periods
