About the role

  • Actuarial Analyst II valuing insurance reserves and monitoring claims for TD Insurance. Reporting results to auditors, regulators, and business partners.

Responsibilities

  • Establish actuarial provisions for all lines of business using appropriate assumptions and methods
  • Select, review, improve and optimize unpaid-claims valuation techniques
  • Calculate actuarial provisions in accordance with actuarial literature, legislation and accounting standards
  • Build reports to monitor actuarial provision adequacy over time
  • Monitor actual losses versus expected losses monthly
  • Communicate and certify financial results with business partners, external auditors, AMF and OSFI
  • Produce, audit and peer review the appointed actuary report yearly
  • Implement risk mitigation, risk controls, processes, policies and procedures for the team
  • Coach, develop and inspire colleagues toward reaching their goals

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial science or other quantitative area of study
  • Working towards obtaining Associateship with the Casualty Actuarial Society, Canadian Institute of Actuaries or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of Property and Casualty actuarial experience
  • Completion of at least 2 actuarial exams
  • Strong judgment and analytical skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Thoroughness and high-quality work
  • Initiative, creativity and critical thinking
  • Work experience with MS Excel (VBA)
  • Experience with programming languages such as R, SAS or Python
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing
  • For Quebec roles: maîtrise d’une langue autre que le français to provide support or deal with employees or colleagues needing services in a language other than French
  • Ability to adapt when discussing with stakeholders of varying expertise, training and hierarchical position
  • Ability to work effectively during periods of stress
  • Ability to collaborate and build positive relationships with business partners
