Bodily Injury Claims Analyst resolving tort claims for TD Insurance, a Canadian provider of home, auto, life and health insurance. Investigating liability, negotiating settlements and managing counsel relationships.
Responsibilities
Handle bodily injury tort claims in Atlantic Canada
Fully investigate liability, injuries, quantum and accident-related damages
Negotiate and resolve claims effectively and promptly
Attend mediations, pre-trials and trials as required
Deal regularly with non-represented claimants, plaintiff counsel and defence counsel
Investigate claims thoroughly through logical conclusion
Establish and maintain adequate case reserves according to BI reserving protocols
Follow Major Claims identification, notification and reporting protocols
Follow claims settlement authority protocols
Collect and document claims information accurately and clearly
Maintain proactive and sound file handling
Manage potential indemnity and expense using sound cost-management practices
Evaluate and resolve complex meritorious claims using available information and established guidelines
Contact unrepresented claimants and legal counsel to build trust and resolve low- to moderate-complexity claims
Manage claimant expectations through regular follow-up and delivery on commitments
Communicate with clients, claimants, witnesses, healthcare professionals, law enforcement and forensic experts
Build relationships with plaintiff counsel to resolve claims professionally
Collaborate proactively with defence counsel on claims-handling best practices
Complete required reports and notepad entries promptly
Travel to out-of-office meetings, mediations, JDRs and other meetings as required
Requirements
Minimum 2-3 years of insurance adjusting experience
Preference for AB or BI experience
Strong understanding of the insurance industry and related legal environment
Ability to prioritize and complete claims-handling activities
Superior interpersonal and communication skills

Excellent organization and time-management skills
Effective analytical skills and attention to detail
Strong negotiation skills
Ability to adapt to a changing environment

CIP designation or other relevant continuing education preferred or actively pursued
University or college degree preferred
Availability to travel and attend mediations, pre-trials and trials
Ability to drive and travel as required
Ability to work in the office four days per week from Halifax, Nova Scotia or Saint John, New Brunswick
