About the role
- Business Intelligence Specialist leading Power BI dashboards, data visualization, and reporting governance for TD, a global financial institution. Delivering trusted insights across business units.
Responsibilities
- Manage a diverse portfolio of business intelligence and reporting activities
- Design, develop and maintain complex dashboards, scorecards, semantic models and data queries
- Act as technical lead for organizational metric alignment, reporting simplification, governance and adoption
- Oversee team JIRA intake and prioritization processes
- Ensure adherence to audit and control practices
- Work with senior leadership on strategic reporting and analytics initiatives
- Leverage Power BI and data analysis expertise to deliver scalable, trusted and actionable business insights
- Elicit information requirements and identify data elements for reporting
- Streamline existing reporting to eliminate errors and redundancies
- Provide ad-hoc reporting and derived insight analysis
- Lead enterprise data visualization activities and provide advisory services on multi-format visualization techniques
- Conduct research, analysis, presentations and communications for management and broader audiences
- Monitor service, productivity and efficiency and implement process improvements
- Lead or facilitate remediation plans for performance, risk and governance issues
- Manage relationships across business lines, corporate functions and control functions
- Provide thought leadership, knowledge transfer, mentorship and team development
- Keep stakeholders informed about project status and day-to-day activities
- Generally report to a Senior Manager or executive role
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree or advanced technical degree preferred (e.g., math, physics, engineering, finance or computer science)
- Graduate's degree preferred with either progressive project work experience or 5+ years of relevant experience; higher degree education and research tenure can be counted
- Expert knowledge of reporting and BI platforms, tools and techniques
- Ability to integrate data across multiple platforms including Azure and Databricks
- Expertise in data visualization techniques and tools, with focus on Power BI
- Ability to work effectively across multiple business units and with numerous stakeholders
- Ability to manage communication at senior and executive level
- Ability to undertake complex projects requiring specialist knowledge and/or integration of cross-functional processes
- Ability to oversee and/or independently perform tasks end to end
- Knowledge of applicable internal and external requirements, financial controls, segregation of duties, transaction approvals and physical control of assets
- Knowledge of enterprise frameworks and methodologies
- 5+ years of relevant experience
