About the role

  • Accounts Payable Administrator processing supplier invoices and reconciliations for Telesat’s global satellite communications business. Managing supplier payments, banking data, taxes, deposits, and corporate travel backup.

Responsibilities

  • Sort incoming mail and distribute it appropriately
  • Receive supplier invoices and verify approved purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and receipt of goods or services
  • Respond to supplier calls and correspondence regarding outstanding payments, account confirmations, and reconciliations
  • Process supplier invoices, apply payment discounts, and hold or release invoices for payment
  • Apply on-account debit memos to outstanding invoices before payment release
  • Maintain and create supplier banking information for wire templates and EFT direct deposits
  • Submit supplier forms to Procurement for updates
  • Resolve late payment fees and issues
  • Ensure manual cheque requisitions have proper approval
  • Allocate tax accounts properly, including HST and VAT for foreign subsidiaries
  • Process electronic tax payments using online banking software
  • Deposit cheques to the lock box and make weekly bank deposits
  • Record cash management entries for non-customer deposits
  • Maintain files for processed invoices and supplier correspondence and documentation
  • Provide vacation coverage and back up other Accounts Payable Administrators
  • Assist with office administrative tasks such as scanning
  • Back up corporate travel activities and ensure compliance with corporate travel policy

Requirements

  • Secondary School Diploma and 2 years of directly related work experience
  • Basic accounting courses would be an asset
  • Proficient in the use of automated systems
  • Thorough understanding of Microsoft Office applications
  • Working knowledge of standard ERP
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and exercise independent judgment in setting work priorities to meet deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively by telephone
  • Ability to build working relationships with other Telesat personnel
  • Must be able to work in Canada
  • Must obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods program (CGP)
