About the role
- Director managing network planning and engineering, ensuring effective telecommunications infrastructure for TELUS in Canada. Leading teams for robust network performance and strategic effectiveness.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement network build strategies
- Lead a team of engineers and technical specialists
- Orchestrate planning and execution of outside plant infrastructure work
- Develop a long-term strategy for network transformation
- Establish and enforce standards for electrical distribution and cooling infrastructure
- Manage planning requirements for multiple fiber-optic deployment projects
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners
- Identify opportunities to reduce expenditures and optimize design
- Stay current with emerging technologies
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (civil, electrical, telecommunications, or a related field) or equivalent professional experience
- At least 10 years of experience in telecommunications, fiber-optic network engineering, or related infrastructure
- At least 5 years in leadership roles managing large-scale projects and teams
- Proven experience in planning and executing large-scale fiber deployment projects
- In-depth knowledge of fiber-optic technologies, network design, and telecommunications standards
- Expertise in outside plant engineering
- Proven knowledge of electrical distribution standards and energy management systems
- Excellent project management skills and experience managing budgets over $50 million
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex stakeholder relationships
- Excellent problem-solving skills
