About the role

  • Director managing network planning and engineering, ensuring effective telecommunications infrastructure for TELUS in Canada. Leading teams for robust network performance and strategic effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement network build strategies
  • Lead a team of engineers and technical specialists
  • Orchestrate planning and execution of outside plant infrastructure work
  • Develop a long-term strategy for network transformation
  • Establish and enforce standards for electrical distribution and cooling infrastructure
  • Manage planning requirements for multiple fiber-optic deployment projects
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners
  • Identify opportunities to reduce expenditures and optimize design
  • Stay current with emerging technologies

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (civil, electrical, telecommunications, or a related field) or equivalent professional experience
  • At least 10 years of experience in telecommunications, fiber-optic network engineering, or related infrastructure
  • At least 5 years in leadership roles managing large-scale projects and teams
  • Proven experience in planning and executing large-scale fiber deployment projects
  • In-depth knowledge of fiber-optic technologies, network design, and telecommunications standards
  • Expertise in outside plant engineering
  • Proven knowledge of electrical distribution standards and energy management systems
  • Excellent project management skills and experience managing budgets over $50 million
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex stakeholder relationships
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
