About the role
- Senior Backend Developer building scalable Java and Kotlin services for Tempo’s Jira productivity tools. Developing secure, tested Atlassian plugins for enterprise customers worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Develop Tempo Timesheets, Capacity Planner, and Financial Manager for Jira Cloud
- Write efficient, readable, maintainable, and testable code using Kotlin, Java, and other server-side languages and frameworks
- Create unit tests and sometimes integration and performance tests
- Review peers' code
- Solve challenging problems with attention to user experience, security, and performance
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, developers, QA engineers, and technical writers
- Develop and maintain Atlassian plugins used by thousands of people in major companies worldwide
- Work on products for time management, resource planning, budget management, roadmapping, program management, and reporting
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in server-side development of commercial web applications in Java and/or Kotlin
- Experience with TypeScript and the React ecosystem is a plus
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related studies
- Working knowledge of Computer Science fundamentals: big-O, basic data structures, and algorithms
- Skills in designing APIs
- Experience building highly scalable distributed systems
- Experience with Kubernetes and AWS
- Experience with SQL queries and database performance
- Experience with NoSQL technologies such as MongoDB or AWS DynamoDB
- Upper-intermediate spoken and written English
- Ability to work autonomously and remotely without extensive control or micro-management
- Ability to start working without complete technical specification
- Ability to learn and communicate productively on unfamiliar topics
- Ability to collaborate on elaborating technical specifications
- Experience with performance optimizations is a plus
