About the role
- Finance Manager owning accounting, reporting, billing, and revenue recognition for Thanx, a restaurant loyalty and guest engagement platform. Automating finance workflows and supporting strategic growth initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Own the monthly close, including journal entries, accruals, prepaid expenses, bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and general ledger accuracy
- Manage revenue recognition under GAAP for deferred revenue and customer contract accounting
- Oversee billing operations, invoice accuracy, contract alignment, billing issue resolution, and accounts receivable and collections support
- Partner with Sales, Customer Success, and Merchant Operations to maintain consistent customer and contract data across Salesforce, Bill.com, and accounting systems
- Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting packages with supporting schedules and variance analysis
- Support board, investor, and lender reporting
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors
- Maintain a strong internal control environment
- Support forecasting, budgeting, unit economics, margin analysis, and M&A diligence with the VP of Finance
- Build scalable reporting infrastructure and automate repetitive finance processes
- Use AI for financial analysis, variance explanations, forecasting, and management reporting while maintaining accuracy, security, human review, and accountability
Requirements
- 3 to 5 years of progressive accounting or finance experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Strong understanding of US GAAP, including accrual accounting, revenue recognition, and financial statement preparation
- Experience independently managing month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting
- Advanced proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets (required)
- Demonstrated proficiency with AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or similar platforms
- Practical experience using AI to improve workflows, enhance analysis, and increase productivity
- Ability to identify manual, repetitive finance processes and translate them into scalable, technology-enabled workflows
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Comfort in a lean, fast-moving environment where priorities shift
- CPA preferred but not required
- Experience with SaaS accounting, subscription billing, or recurring revenue models is strongly preferred
- Experience with Salesforce, Bill.com, and modern accounting systems is a plus
