About the role
- Reporter leading daily live financial markets coverage for The Globe and Mail, Canada’s national news publisher. Breaking news, analyzing market data, and shaping Globe Investor audience coverage.
Responsibilities
- Lead the daily live markets blog on weekdays
- Break news and offer exclusive insights that distinguish live markets coverage
- Monitor financial data and wire sources for relevant news
- Solicit contributions from beat reporters to enrich the live blog
- Collaborate with editorial and product colleagues on improvements to live blog format, functionality and design
- Use audience feedback and metrics to guide coverage
- Tailor coverage over time to reflect audience interests
- Deliver fast, authoritative and insightful updates throughout the trading day
- Serve as principal writer for the daily markets blog
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience writing on investing or financial markets
- Ability to write quickly and clearly on complex financial topics
- Experience using audience analytics tools to understand trends
- Experience using real-time financial data sources, such as the Bloomberg Terminal
- Ability to use data visualization tools to create stock charts and other graphics
- Cover letter with three links to previous work
- Resume written by the candidate, not AI
- Minimum of two days a week in the Toronto office
