Traffic Control Technician responsible for executing traffic management for various construction sites. Protecting all stakeholders while regulating traffic flow and ensuring safety protocols are followed.
Responsibilities
Perform multiple traffic control set-ups as per MTO Book 7 while adhering to traffic plan requirements to ensure the safety of all stakeholders impacted at the worksite (crew members, motorists, pedestrians, etc.).
Interpret traffic management plans to determine correct placement of required signage, barrels, and other channeling devices
Complete teardown of sites once the applicable work has been completed.
Protect your peers, construction workers, the motoring public, cyclists & pedestrians by regulating traffic flow.
Stop traffic whenever required by the progress of work or to keep traffic moving at reduced speeds to avoid tie-ups and delays.
Maintain a safety awareness and work in compliance with applicable health & safety regulations and policies.
Requirements
Valid G class driver’s license and a clean driver's abstract ( Required )
Must be available to work Monday - Friday between 6am - 6pm with the potential to work some evenings and weekends ( Required )
Have strong verbal and written English communication skills ( Required )
Vision and hearing abilities that allow to perform all work requirements safely ( Required )
You will be required to provide your own CSA Grade 1 (green label) work boots with a minimum 6 inch cuff and electrical shock resistance (white label with omega symbol)
Minimum 1 year of experience in Construction or Traffic Control (Preferred)
Experience driving trucks/towing a trailer (Asset)
Have a valid DZ driver’s license (Asset)
Communicate effectively - Good communication skills to be able to give motorists & pedestrians simple directions, explain hazards, and answer questions
Grace under pressure - Able to calmly troubleshoot issues and collaborate with a diverse group of people
Tech savvy - Must have a smartphone that you're comfortable using for work purposes with ability to learn new systems/apps
Collaborates - Comfortable working in a team environment
Awareness of surroundings - Monitor traffic, construction equipment, and workers for safety purposes
