Behaviour Support Worker providing direct support and care to children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder. In home settings, administer treatments, support families, and ensure individualized care plans are met.
Responsibilities
Provides direct care to children/youth up to 18 years of age with Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or Neurodevelopmental conditions in home settings
Administers and records prescribed medication as per instructions from a medical practitioner and follows the agency's Medication Policies and Procedures
Assists clients with personal care and hygiene as necessary
Implementing behavioural strategies as per the Behavioural Support Plan (BSP)
Completes all required documentation and maintains regular up to date case notes in compliance with VHA standards
Maintain program data and reports as required as part of the program evaluation and maintaining program quality
Conducts daily assessment of client needs and consults with family prior to shift to learn about relevant information for care of client
Requirements
Degree or diploma in a health-related field, such as Social Work/Social Service Work, Child and Youth Worker, Developmental Service Worker
CPR, First Aid, Non-Violent Crisis Prevention and Intervention (NVCPI) certification required
Minimum 2 years clinical experience will be ideal
Experience working directly with children and/or youth with significant needs and challenges
G License and driving is mandatory
Must have a valid Ontario driver’s license, access to a vehicle and willingness to travel across the city of Toronto and GTA
