Responsibilities
Design, build, and operate backend services powering real-time balances, reservations, and financial activity
Own meaningful scope end-to-end, from technical design through reliable production operation
Solve problems involving real-time correctness, low latency, high availability, write paths, event consumers, and database contention
Evolve architecture by consolidating services and data models, establishing a single entry point for financial activity, isolating failure domains, and improving recovery and backfill
Perform migrations on live financial systems without downtime or incorrect client balances
Raise quality and operational excellence through design, code review, and production ownership
Mentor and grow engineers through pairing, code review, and feedback
Collaborate with Product and neighboring engineering teams
Use AI-assisted tooling to ship faster and more safely
Requirements
5+ years of professional software engineering experience
Track record of building and operating critical production systems
Strong backend engineering and system design skills
Experience with highly available, low-latency services under real load
Kotlin on the JVM experience, or strong Java experience / comparable stack experience
Production ownership and incident response judgment
Comfort working in mature codebases and improving systems incrementally
Strong software quality practices, including tested, maintainable, and observable code
Clear communication and collaboration with Product and engineering teams
Curiosity about financial systems and client impact
Enthusiasm for AI-assisted development
Fintech, banking, trading, regulated-domain, ledger, reconciliation, event-driven architecture, Kafka, Flink, GraphQL, Apollo Federation, Kubernetes, Postgres, database performance, or live-system migration experience is nice to have
