About the role

  • Intermediate Instrumentation and Controls Engineer for mining projects in Canada. Responsible for design review, development, and collaboration with engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls Department Manager, and working alongside other team members locally and across the country, you will be responsible for the review and development of the instrumentation and control designs required on detailed engineering projects; it also includes signing documents as a Professional Engineer.
  • Join a culture of innovation, pushing the boundaries of what is possible to seek the best solutions for our clients across Canada and the US.
  • Assist in writing work plans and reports in a concise technical manner according to the applicable project specifics.
  • Coordinate and interface with equipment vendors and review vendor documentation.
  • Balance and meet deadlines on multiple ongoing projects.
  • Ensure all deliverables are developed in accordance with the project requirements, applicable standards and codes, and the company's quality specifications.

Requirements

  • Electrical Engineering (BSc) degree with specializations or experience in instrumentation / controls
  • Must be a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the province of British Columbia, Saskatchewan, or Ontario or have the ability to register as one within approximately 3 months of hire. (PE in the US is an asset)
  • Minimum of 4-6 years of experience; primarily responsible for supporting I&C engineering consulting projects for mining, metallurgical or similar process industries.
  • Knowledge of CSA, ISA and IEEE standards including the Canadian Electrical Code and how to apply them to designs.
  • Everyday use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Team player, but also able to work independently and take responsibility.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required.
  • Database experience is considered an asset (AVEVA Instrumentation and/or SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI)).
  • Working knowledge of 2D and 3D software is considered an asset (AutoCAD, AVEVA E3D)
