About the role
- Senior Pipeline Engineer providing technical expertise for belowground pipelines in Canada's oil and gas sector. Involved in design, material selection, and project support.
Responsibilities
- Prepare Pipeline class location assessments
- Coordinate with GIS specialist to develop Alignment sheets
- Perform pipeline design calculations, including wall thickness, hydrotest and HDD
- Prepare pipeline design reports, and material selection
- Contribute to engineering specifications, standards, and procedures
- Complete Material Take Offs (MTOs) and prepare associated Material Requisitions
- Prepare Construction Work Packages (CWPs)
- Coordinate procurement bids and conduct technical bid evaluations
- Identify optimization and operating cost reduction opportunities
- Ensure construction and field modifications comply with applicable codes, standards, and regulations
- Provide technical guidance on project designs, cost estimates, and economic justifications
- Support short- and long-term engineering planning and innovation initiatives
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in any engineering discipline (Chemical, Civil, Mechanical, or Pipeline Engineering preferred)
- 15+ years of experience with below-ground pipelines
- Registration with APEGA as a Professional Engineer
- Familiarity with engineering standards relevant to the Oil & Gas pipeline industry, including CSA, ASME, API, and Alberta Pipeline Rules
- Recent Western Canadian pipeline experience
- Strong technical knowledge of the Oil & Gas industry
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Proven ability to work in a team environment while collaborating with various disciplines
- Demonstrated willingness to learn and work independently
- Strong technical writing and oral communication skills in English
- Comfortable working in a hybrid (office and home) environment
- Legally authorized to work in Canada at the time of application
