About the role
- Android Engineer needed for 12-month contract in Toronto/Mississauga. Requires 6+ years Android dev experience with Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and Android TV.
Responsibilities
- Have a voice in the architectural definition and implementation of various key technology pieces. Translate business requirements into technical design specifications. Participate in product definition, daily scrums, grooming sessions, and story refining. Implement robust unit tests including edge cases, usability, and reliability. Use git for pull requests, code review, and branch merging. Collaborate with the team and participate in knowledge sharing. Implement Agile Scrum methodologies in research, analysis, prototyping, and interface development. Openly expose problems and turn them into learning and team bonding experiences.
Requirements
- Minimum 6 years of experience with Android development (Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Android SDK, Java). Deep understanding of Android SDK, performance, and optimization (AsyncTasks, Adapters, Fragments, Activities, Threading, etc.). Experience with Android TV. Solid understanding of object-oriented design patterns and principles. Strong understanding of mobile UI guidelines and best practices. Experience integrating RESTful web APIs and JSON. Experience with planning and writing technical documentation. Superior problem solving and risk management skills. Strong initiative, priority setting, and collaboration skills. Knowledge of Chromecast implementation and optimization. Nice to have: Kotlin Multi-Platform, GraphQL, iOS native development, SQL and relational database fundamentals, code obfuscation & encryption techniques.
