About the role
- Senior Data Engineer contract role requiring 10+ years experience building data pipelines and architectures for batch/real-time processing. Must work hybrid 2-3 days/week in Canada.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust data pipelines and architectures supporting batch and real‑time data processing. Implement real‑time data streaming solutions using Apache Spark Streaming, Kafka, Flink, and related frameworks. Work with Hadoop ecosystem including Hive, Pig, Spark and Kafka. Expertise in Medallion architecture, Data Lakehouse, Unity Catalog and microservices. Implement CI/CD pipelines, DevOps and experience with Kubernetes, Terraform. Application design using GCP, Databricks.
Requirements
- At least 10 years' experience in data engineering. Mandatory skills: GCP, Databricks, Python, Kubernetes. Desired skills: Knowledge of AI-assisted development tools like GitHub Copilot, Claude Code. Must be located in Canada and able to attend office 2-3 days per week.
