Responsibilities
Monitor AFRRCS in real time to ensure continuous system availability and operational readiness across Alberta.
Respond immediately to system events, alarms, and performance issues within a 24/7 mission critical environment.
Analyze system behaviour to distinguish between equipment faults, environmental conditions, and operational factors.
Apply detailed knowledge of AFRRCS technology, terrain, and user operations to determine appropriate corrective actions.
Support the reliability of the command and control network that directly impacts first responder safety and effectiveness.
Collaborate with internal teams and first responder agencies to ensure the system meets evolving operational needs.
Document incidents, performance trends, and operational decisions to support continuous improvement.
Requirements
Two-year technical diploma or related, PLUS 2 years related experience or equivalent
Certificate in Network Administration, ASSET Electronics Technician certification, or equivalent experience
Valid Class 5 driver’s licence (or equivalent) with the ability to tow a trailer
Ability to work at heights exceeding 10 feet
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (22 kg)
Willingness to work in remote locations for up to 5 consecutive days
Ability to work a 24/7/365 shift rotation consisting of 11.43 hour shifts
Experience operating digital Land Mobile Radio (LMR) systems with a widely dispersed architecture, supporting first responders or other high availability environments (asset)
Experience working in a Network Operations Centre (NOC) or similar facility focused on real time system monitoring (asset)
Experience and understanding of satellite communications systems (asset)
