About the role

  • Digital Court Reporter capturing and monitoring Canadian legal proceedings for Array, a technology-driven legal solutions provider. Recording audio, maintaining annotations, and supporting accurate confidential legal records remotely.

Responsibilities

  • Record and monitor legal proceedings, including examinations for discovery, arbitrations, hearings, and other legal events
  • Monitor audio quality throughout proceedings to ensure a clear and accurate record
  • Maintain detailed notes and annotations during proceedings
  • Work professionally with lawyers, adjudicators, judges, clients, and other legal professionals
  • Maintain strict confidentiality at all times
  • Complete proficiency assessments before accepting assignments
  • Provide services as an independent contractor and determine availability for assignments
  • Perform remote or onsite assignments, typically Monday through Friday during standard business hours, with additional opportunities outside those hours
  • Potentially provide transcription services and other related work based on exceptional performance

Requirements

  • Two or more years of digital court reporting, court reporting, legal support, or related experience ideal
  • Candidates with transferable skills and demonstrated ability to succeed are encouraged to apply
  • Candidates with less than two years of digital court reporting experience must complete the Digital Court Reporter Training Program
  • Successfully complete proficiency assessments before accepting assignments
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent listening and concentration skills
  • Strong written communication skills, including grammar, spelling, and punctuation
  • Strong reading comprehension and information-processing skills
  • Proficient keyboarding and computer skills
  • Professional demeanor and presentation
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in fast-paced or high-pressure situations
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently and reliably
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and/or French
  • Must provide proof of eligibility to work in Canada
  • Must complete a background check
