About the role
- Reporter leading The Globe and Mail’s daily live markets blog and breaking financial news. Using real-time data, audience analytics, and visualization to inform Canadian investors.
Responsibilities
- Lead the daily live markets blog on weekdays
- Break news and offer exclusive insights that distinguish live markets coverage
- Monitor financial data and wire sources for relevant news
- Solicit contributions from beat reporters to enrich the live blog
- Collaborate with editorial and product colleagues on live blog format, functionality, and design improvements
- Use audience feedback and metrics to guide coverage
- Tailor market coverage over time to reflect audience interests
- Deliver fast, authoritative, and insightful updates throughout the trading day
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience writing on investing or financial markets
- Ability to write quickly and clearly on complex financial topics
- Experience using audience analytics tools to understand trends
- Experience using real-time financial data sources, such as the Bloomberg Terminal
- Ability to use data visualization tools to create stock charts and other graphics
