About the role

Principal Product Manager shaping AI-powered accounting workflows at Ascend. Owning product strategy, roadmaps, ML/LLM experiments, and launches for accountant-facing solutions.

Responsibilities

Influence Ascend’s AI strategy in partnership with the AI Team
Develop and communicate product vision to leadership and the AI team
Develop a 12-month prioritized roadmap with Engineering
Own the product lifecycle from ideation to launch, including continuous iteration and improvement
Identify and drive large-scale transformation opportunities
Develop and execute product strategies that enhance operating margins
Align and manage dependencies between product areas
Provide structured input to Engineering and ensure priorities align with business objectives
Develop ML/LLM hypotheses based on customer research and industry understanding
Partner with AI Engineering to define and prioritize ML/LLM experiments
Improve product launch mechanisms and track post-launch metrics
Communicate outcomes, adjust priorities, escalate issues, and recommend pivots

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, or equivalent work experience and education
Preference for experience in ML/AI, development or technical roles, or Taxation and Accounting technology
Proven ability to work backward from customer needs to inform product vision and strategy
Track record of delivering results with urgency and iterating on products
Experience owning the product lifecycle from ideation to launch
Ability to make data-driven decisions and track impact metrics
Ability to influence product strategy and align it with business objectives
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience aligning cross-functional teams, including Engineering and Product Design
Strong understanding of AI-powered solutions and ML/LLM experiments is preferred but not mandatory
Deep understanding of accounting workflows and tax preparation processes is preferred but not mandatory
Master’s degree is a plus
